Love this! And how fun that there is actually no fence on either side of the gate. Were they really serious about keeping folks out? 🙂 Love your shots.
You make an excellent point about the lack of a fence. The gate must have been intended purely for decorative purposes. It was an old mansion that was later converted to a park.
I didn’t get any close-ups, Dave, but since I go that park/forest preserve periodically, I can get some next time. I believe they are carvings of eagles, but can’t be sure.
Is that the entrance to the Adams’ mansion? :)…Just joking!
Good shot Brian!
…of the Addams family? Don’t think so! Appreciate the comment.
The gate is lovely, and so is the sky.

those gates are very welcoming, opening outward, and it is nice to know that the property is now a park.
It’s a lovely property, and the gates opening outward add a distinctive (welcoming) touch. Thanks so much, Vicki!
Beautiful!

Great composition! I feel like there are a world of possibilities awaiting as you pass through the gates.

I love the scroll work on the gate as well as the two cement posts it is attached to. Really lovely shot.

Great, Brian. Did you get any close-ups of the carvings on the pedestals? They look really interesting but I can’t make them out clearly.
