Great capture, Brian! I used to see coyotes all of the time when we lived in New Mexico. They were pretty shy around people so it was hard to photograph them.
Wow, I’d love to see one. This is probably the closest I’ll ever get. How exciting to capture that moment and I love the way he’s looking back at you 🙂
He’s just sizing you up as an afternoon snack Brian! Great photo…I had a timberwolf look at me that way in the bush once. The experience became part of a poem I called ‘Timing’. Thanks for sharing this.
Wow, what an exciting (?!) moment for you, and in such a tame looking environment, too.
Thanks, Kate. It’s a residential area and the coyote walked right through — an incredible sight.
This one looks well fed. Strange to see these creatures out in public.
It’s surprising that they come this close. Thanks for the comment.

I think they are getting a bit too comfortable in this particular area, from what I understand. Thanks, Laurie.
Fantastic shot!!! I like very much the composition, angle and light.
Santi, thanks so much for the support!
beautiful, great in b/w
I appreciate the comment, Polly. Thank you.
gorgeous image….. would have gone beautifully with a recent io9 article on wildlife in cities (http://io9.com/5907596/cities-of-the-future-will-be-full-of-wild-animals?utm_campaign=socialflow_io9_facebook&utm_source=io9_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow)
Interesting article — thanks for the link.
Oooo. Good catch. I’m a little afraid of them myself, especially for my little white dog.
You definitely need to be careful especially with your little dog. Thanks for the comment, CM.
Coyotes top my list of what I love about Arizona. And he or she is looking at you! Nice one!
Thanks very much, Chrissine!

Thank you very much, Norma!
Does coyotes walking around freely?
In this particular area, coyotes regularly walk around freely.
That’s an amazing image. The perspective, framing, light and tones are all perfect and you managed to capture the coyote looking at the camera.
Stevie, thanks for the kind words.
Awesome!
Thanks, Wayne!
It’s an amazing shot, eerie and dark, love it.
Thank you, Lucianus!
