The Fire Escape
Fire escape stairs located near the Chicago Theater. The gentleman near the top of the stairs adds an air of mystery to the urban capture.

Without this man, the stairs especially in black and white standing so nicely but with this man, interesting 🙂 Thank you Brian, with my love, nia
Thanks so much for the feedback, Nia!
An air of mystery or an air of urine??? Black and white is a great effect for this photo.
Too funny, Susan!
OMG, that was my first thought too Texan Susan. That guy is taking a leak!!! LOL At least he was polite enough to turn his back. Great shot by the way! 🙂
You guys are hilarious, but perhaps you are correct. Who knows? I didn’t stick around long enough to find an answer.
When the page first loaded, I got excited because it was such a cool photo…then I noticed the man, assumed he was peeing and laughed. Awesome/mysterious photo lol 🙂 Glad I stumbled on your site, its great!
Nate, thanks very much!
Enjoyed the compo and b/w. I was thinking the same about the man.. : )
When it’s time to go, it’s time to go, I guess…
Giggling… my first thought was not about peeing. First thought was “mc escher!”
Like this a lot 🙂
MC Escher….now that’s a nice change of pace from the prior comments 🙂
I love this photo! Any urban scene with fire escapes and/or water towers grabs my attention instantly, but this composition with the winding stairs, mix of textures, and lone figure is very, very cool 🙂
Christine, I appreciate the feedback. Thank you very much!
Great image, but I’m a goin with the flow and thinking that the bloke is takin a leak. Great work 🙂
Thanks for the comment. Looks like there is a steady stream of thoughts here…
Simply GREAT!! Fabulous composition and scene.
I appreciate the great comments, Santi!
A lovely photo Brian, nice work.
Jack, thank you very much.
nice composition.
Thanks, Mark.
Very cinematic – Steve McQueen?
Thanks, Richard. What am I missing with the Steve McQueen reference?
What I meant was that the style, the scale of the shot and the pose of the figure all reminded me of Bullitt-era Steve McQueen. Should have just said that in the first place – sorry, Brian.
Great shot. Like the angle and the tones. Is that guy taking a leak?
I’ll leave it to everyone’s imagination. It looks like you have the agreement of many of the commenters.
Excellent graphical shot.
Hi David, thanks for the comment!
Nice usage of B&W treatment specially with all the lines
I appreciate the comment, Bashar! Thank you.
Great shot!
Cornelia, thank you!
Someone mentioned peeing. Another Steve McQueen. So is it Steve McQueen peeing?
We might have a theme for a game show — “Who is that man peeing?”
Geez, you’re an amazing photographer.
Michael, thank you very much.
The painted lettering adds interest to the textured wall here, while the figure helps to provide a sense of scale – well seen and captured… thanks for sharing!
Susie
Thanks for the descriptive feedback, Susie!
